This project will fund the basic needs of our classroom. Right now there is a whiteboard and a bookshelf. My goal is to provide my students with materials that will challenge their thinking while giving them the support and resources that they need. Having a small group table will allow me to work one on one with my students. The pencils, glue, scissors, and bins will take away any stress my students may have about supplies because it will be at school for them. Having reusable whiteboard covers will allow students to write on any papers they need while being able to erase and start again, because in my classroom mistakes are a part of learning!
Teaching special education means that my students' unique personalities and abilities need more than typical classroom supplies in order to learn. Having alternative seating and a smaller table helps my students stay focused. It is crucial that my students feel that my classroom promotes a calm, accepting, nurturing and reliable environment. Having the supplies that they need makes accessing the curriculum more accessible.
