I have an amazing group of 5th graders that face more obstacles and challenges than they should. I have a group of 21 ESE students with emotional and learning disabilities. I get to teach them Reading, Language Arts, Writing, and Social Studies. Sometimes it becomes more motivation and life skills than anything else. Aside form their own personal challenges, they are faced with family, economic, academic challenges that just become a greater burden than they can handle. I make it my everyday goal to make sure they know my class is a safe haven and that I am here genuinely for them & their personal growth. Unfortunately we are a school in a very low socio economic neighborhood with a lot of low income and immigrant hard working families which makes it so difficult to get adequate resources for the students. We really on hand me downs and any donations we can get. These kids are so inspiring and deserve so much.
