I am a fourth grade teacher, working in a urban high-poverty area of New York. Many of these children come from homes where parents cannot afford to buy school supplies. Despite all of the challenges the children come to school excited to learn. They are bright and inquisitive and deserve every opportunity that can be offered to them.
