Our project is building our classroom's collection of board games. Board games in a classroom might seem like an odd choice but many important skills can be taught through the use of these games. Students learn best when instruction provides authentic opportunities to learn and practice skills. Games are an authentic way for students to practice speaking and listening and direction following skills. They also help students learn to be supportive of others by helping and cheering their classmates on. Many of these games have math and reading elements as well. Games help my students grow their skills all around.
