Each student having their own copy of the book will help them build independent reading skills. It will also allow students to explore the beautiful artwork that illustrates this book. This book helps us all see the magic of Christmas through a child's eyes. This unit will help students build reading skills without them realizing they are actually doing school work. We will build our compare and contrast skills by comparing the book and movie, as well as our family holiday traditions. We will also use our letter writing skills to write a letter to Santa. Students will tap into their imagination to create a scrapbook of their journey on the Polar Express.
