Working at a title I school I noticed that there is a desperate need for a sense of community and family feel. My students need to start their day together as a family in an orderly and calm way. Our upcoming fifth graders have the tremendous ability to have a strong sense of community and support for one another but they have to be taught. They come from diverse background and can add life and excitement to the classroom. They need to have lessons that are rooted in respect and empathy towards others.
