I teach in a Special Education Resource classroom in Gallup, NM. I have 18 students who are mostly Native American. Most of my student receive free and reduced lunch and breakfast. My students all have very different needs and talents in reading, writing, and math. My projects are designed to create opportunities for my students to engage in their own learning in a new and exciting way to build different pathways in their brains. My goal is to create a welcoming, encouraging classroom where students feel safe, encouraged, and challenged to be the best student that they can be. Although my students may come from challenging places, I strive to make my classroom a safe place where they can thrive and use their strengths and interests to improve the skills that seem to hold them back in the regular education classroom.
