The students I teach are learning disabled and come from shelters or live in multiple family homes where they lack the attention they need to succeed academically, socially, or personally. Many of them were devastated by Hurricane Sandy and forced to start from scratch as a result of the massive losses they incurred. The school is a staff of dedicated teachers whose goal is not only to help the kids in the classroom, but to encourage them to overcome the challenges they have been faced with and continue to face in their lives.
