My students are a diverse bunch. They include every inch of the socio-economic ladder and come from high poverty and low poverty. We have a high number of students who don't speak English or who don't speak it well. Our students want nothing more than to know that someone cares about them. Our students don't really have the support at home that they need or parents who check behind them to make sure they're taking notes or working hard. The students enjoy sports and forge bonds easily with teachers who take the time to get to know them.
