Our second graders will enter school this year with varying abilities, interests, and backgrounds. Most of them live in the immediate neighborhood of our public school but some travel from neighborhoods all over the city. Some have had limited access to books outside of school, but a rich classroom library can give those students the opportunity to borrow books and strengthen their reading skills at home.
