Students are extremely diverse. In our county our middle school is the most tightly bound by neighborhood school lines in the district. Many students walk and participate in before and after school activities that allow them to spend more time at school instead of going home. They compete for a spot in the district right in the middle as far as test scores, athletics, and everything else. They work so hard but have a hard time competing with other large schools. Our school has a very close knit group of teachers and staff who care deeply about our students education but more importantly what their next steps are as we have many special mentoring groups in place for diverse populations and are making a special effort to gain the trust of our students and make sure they feel welcome daily. We have a very high percentage of free or reduced rate lunch recipients and have now qualified for all of our students to receive free breakfast and lunch next school year.
