My third graders attend an extended year, Title I school in Washington, DC. Approximately half of my students are English Language Learners, and almost all of my students are from low-income households. Several have experienced trauma. Yet all of my students are resilient, motivated, and excited to learn math and science in my classroom each day. I believe that excellent teaching and resources can help close the achievement gap.
