Of 15 elementary schools in the district, our school is one of the most diverse. My kindergarteners know more about life than most 5-year-olds. Forced to grow up faster than most in a high poverty area, my guys come to school with more issues than your typical kindergartener. Students are faced with inconsistent living conditions, absentee parents, and lack of experiences and background knowledge; which all impact student success.
