One of the most important things to me as a teacher is that my students are able to access their learning through the use of manipulatives and hands-on experiences. These materials will allow my students to participate in daily centers. During these centers, my students will be able to work with each other in collaborative ways, explore the topics we cover as a whole group in class in small groups and use fun, different materials. Overall, exploring what works best for them! The foam and play dough will be used to help students practice forming letters and words, using mats with words and letters as a guide. Magnetic letters can be used in centers where students match letter sounds to pictures, spelling practice, and sight word recognition. The magnetic shapes will be used in a center where students can build, or use the shapes to form patterns. Dominos can be used to help students recognize numbers, the transition to addition, and be a part of a matching center.
