First grade is the foundation for learning to love school and the basis in the academic curriculum. Our goal is to enjoy learning in each subject. The students in my first grade classroom are full of life and energetic about learning. They are helpful to each other and caring towards others feelings. Some days are difficult as the learning becomes increasingly harder, but as they encourage each other, I get to see their true colors shine. The school is a PreK-5 building with roughly 300 students. It is located in a low income community with limited resources. Regardless of the circumstances the students face, they know this classroom is a safe place. Keeping their spirits high while supporting learning is my number one goal as a teacher.
