I have the privilege of educating students from all walks of life, including those with ADHD. The latter group of students tend to walk away from their desks all class period and/or just don't feel comfortable in a desk in general. One day, I decided to survey my students after hearing their complaints about the size of the room and how we can make things more comfortable. They unanimously voted on new chairs! I pondered upon their complaints and came up with a solution.....BEAN BAGS! Bean bags in replacement of traditional chairs/desks will allow my students to feel that their voices have been heard and they can make a difference. Often times, middle schoolers are overlooked when they voice their opinions. NOT THIS TIME! I want my students to WANT to come into my class and know that my classroom is a sanctuary where they can relax and solely focus on learning.
