My language arts students are 10th and 11th graders at a Title I school in Phoenix, Arizona. They are remarkable young people facing and tackling a wide array of challenges; I consider myself fortunate to work with this diverse and unique population. I want to use literature as a tool to teach them the life skills they so desperately need when they graduate. Many of them have a skewed reality of what life is like after high school, and I want to prepare them as much as possible to be college and career ready.Donor's Choose and the generosity of individuals and companies across the country allow me to provide my students with supplies and literature I would not normally be able to afford.
