The MHS community has recently made a huge financial sacrifice in order to reface and update the school. However, in the remodel we lost most of our library. My classroom currently holds the largest collection of books for students to read at just under 300 books. I try to keep a wide variety, but I am lacking in non fiction and stories by diverse authors or containing diverse characters. These books will give my students an opportunity to experience new cultures, belief systems, and worlds from the safety of their homes and my classroom. Reading is the one skill that can cripple a student’s achievement in all other subjects, help my students build their skills with a bigger library.
