I am about to embark on my first year of teaching as a fifth grade teacher. Reading is such a fundamental part of education and I want to make sure that I do everything I can to make my students feel excited about reading. I am trying to compile a set of classroom library books that will keep my students interest in reading and get them excited to read. My students will use the books during our independent reading time to help with fluency, stamina, comprehension and most importantly developing a love of reading! As I set up my classroom for the upcoming school year, our book nook will be a very important area. This is where students can find a quiet space to read and delve into a text. In order to give them this opportunity, I am trying to develop my library that will be enticing to many different interests and reading levels. I can't wait for my students to begin their reading journey!
