Greetings! This is my 1st year as a classroom teacher! Before accepting this 2nd Grade teaching position I worked as Speech Therapist Assistant. It has been developing and rewarding switching careers but I am excited to continue to to make an impact in hearts and minds of children. In my homeroom class I will have about 22 2nd grade students. I will be team teaching so we will have about 44 students total. At our school 49% of the students are African American. 39% of the students are Hispanic/English Language Learners. 8% of the students are Caucasian. 92% of students at our school are classified as economically disadvantaged. 77% of the students are considered at risk based on academic scores, foster care, and homelessness. 10% of the students are classified as Special Education. Despite the statistics our students are eager to learn.
