Literature comes to life when muggles, I mean students, enter Hogwarts as I read aloud the first book of Harry Potter. during our shared reading block. The students will need individual copies of the book so they will be able to follow along and then closely reread chapters for assignments pertaining to literary elements and writing prompts. Last year, I introduced my class to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and they monopolized the few copies of the book available at our school library. Many of the students continued to read the rest of the series on their own. I know that this class set of books will get great use every year for years to come.
