The interactive notebooks will help keep my students organized, while also helping them focus on distraction free writing. These notebooks will strengthen their skills in persuasive/argumentative writing, grammar, and reading skills. My students are more than capable of solid verbal argumentative reasoning skills, but still need help with organizing written persuasive arguments. This is where these notebooks are useful. On one side they will paste in examples of solid writing and outlines. On the other they will craft their own essays modeled after the examples. They will practice writing attention grabbing introductions, strong, argumentative thesis statements, eloquent body paragraphs, and impression-leaving conclusions. The grammar section will be used to take notes on grammar rules, commonly confused words, and examples. By the end of the quarter, this section can be used as a study guide for tests and quizzes. The final reading section will be used to institute the Penny Kittle Book Love program that encourages sustained reading for 15-20 minutes everyday. This section will be used for a place where students can put down questions, unfamiliar vocabulary words, and favorite quotes read throughout the year.
