I have requested a large area rug for my classroom as well as 30 seat organizers to accommodate my 27 1st grades. I am a huge advocate for students learning through movement as much as possible. Our current rug in our classroom does not hold all 27 bouncy and energetic students, which results in constant interruptions in both teaching and student learning. Not having an area rug with set "personal spaces" has made it difficult to teach where an appropriate place to stand/sit is. If I were to receive these vital materials for my classroom, it would increase student engagement during independent and whole group learning. My students love to share their ideas with one another during read alouds and lessons. In addition, we are thankful to have 1:1 technology which means each student has a Chromebook of their own. These seat organizers fit on the back of their chairs and would allow them to store their technology at their seat. Currently, we are crowding over a storage container across the room every time we do a blended learning activity, which takes away from our learning time. These organizers would help me teach responsibility and accountability as students learn what it's like to take care of their own materials.
