With these students, sensory stimulation is a key importance to their academic success. Not only will this help the special education classroom but general education teachers as well. Sometimes, when their environment becomes overwhelming, they need a place to escape and readjust. Learning comes easier when their environments are accommodating! What is hard for people to understand, is that these friends see the world in a different life. Our classrooms should be inviting and accommodating to that need. the sensory swing allows them to collect themselves and refocus in the special education classroom. What is even cooler, is that the wobble chairs, cushions and fidget toys can follow them into their general education classroom. Each item is personalized to a student with specific needs. Changing student learning one sensory at a time!
