To help start off the year, we begin with a Pirate theme and integrate Talk Like a Pirate Day. At the end of the week, we are going to use the locks and treasure chests to create an 'escape room’ that will review the materials but more importantly, give the students opportunities to work together as a team and problem solve. Team work, problem solving and laughter will help build our learning community that will develop and grow over the course of the school year. It will give the students opportunities to use social and emotional skills that will last a life time. Students will work together in groups to solve puzzles using technology, reading skills, and map skills. These skills will include information used throughout the lesson.
