My students and I are jumping into this school year with the belief that active bodies create working minds. I believe that if my students have the freedom to choose where they want to work throughout my room, they will be much more successful in their learning.
It is important that wiggly first and second graders get the chance to move around. For this reason, I'm implementing new seating options, namely, Wobble Cushions and Backpatter's seats, to be used. My students will also enjoy these indoor recess activities: a floor puzzle, inflatable globe beach balls and a Headbandz game-which will also be used to help build vocabulary skills! Lastly, my students will be using hand-held technology (Kindle Fire tablets) and a pocket chart stand that makes their work stations much more mobile!
The key to this project is that my students will have options. They get to choose the learning style that best suits them.
