My new students are in grades 6-8. They are majority Hispanic and 95% economically disadvantaged. When my principal approached the student body two years ago, and explained that she could provide a new elective, they were thrilled. Ms. G told them that they had to choose between Theatre Arts OR Choir, the school could not begin both programs. These mainly shy kids CHOSE Theatre. I am beginning my second year as their theatre teacher. It is not MY Theatre Arts Classroom and Program. It is OURS.
