My students are in a self-contained class. They are diagnosed with various disabilities, including Speech and Language Impairment, Emotionally Disturbance, Hearing Impairment, and Learning Disability. Our school is located in the South Bronx with most of the students living below the poverty line. A handful of my students' parents are unable to read English, so they are unable to help my students with homework or reading assignments. One hundred percent of the students receive free lunch at our school. My students are intelligent and creative, however school is very difficult for them because of the area where they live and the lack of support and financial resources at home. These books will bring joy and will provide more opportunities to learn about new topics. I want to provide them with more books on their independent reading level, so that they can feel more successful when they read a new book. They have
