Our classroom is lacking a community space to come together for our daily meetings and whole group lessons. The impact from having a comfortable, welcoming meeting space changes the attitudes of students to be more open and willing to share ideas and their thinking. A big, friendly rug that we sit together for close companionship and comradely sharing our interests is exactly what is needed for this empty space in our classroom. A comfortable classroom is key to helping students build trust, which leads to strong relationships, which then can motivate risk-taking, creativity, and learning. I chose a large educational rug that matches the outer space theme of our room from Nasco. I love this because it is large enough to fit our usual class size comfortably and it will spark their curiosity of our solar system.
