Thank you for your interest in my classroom! This year I'm fortunate to have 21 enthusiastic, creative, children. My students are faced with several challenges in and out of the classroom. They come from the highest poverty backgrounds near the Port of Los Angeles. They are eager to learn and excel academically, but most of them don't have adequate home support. Many of their parents struggle working long hours to provide for their families. Many parents are not fluent in English and have limited education themselves. Our school is severely under-funded relative to our needs. As a teacher, I want to provide the best learning experiences for my children, and make up for the lack of support that they have in their lives. It's rewarding to see their excitement and enthusiasm when they're engaged in challenging activities that help them acquire important critical thinking skills that they need for a better life.
