I have the privilege of working in an Elementary Resource Center where we serve students with special needs. Our ERC staff consists of another special education teacher, a great group of instructional assistants, and me. We work together to support our students in their general education classrooms and in small groups. We help develop academic skills, social skills, and self-management. Our ultimate goal it to move students towards independence in the classroom! One key component of the ERC are our RESOURCES! We serve K-6th so we require a variety of resources to support a large range of needs across many content areas. As our district moves towards a more inclusive educational format, we have found that our resources need to change as well so we can serve our students in their general education classrooms. Donations to our projects help build a positive community around special education!
