The 4th-6th graders in our fall maker space club had the materials you donated available to them and they made so many amazing things, a scarf, hand sewn plushies, a couple working fans, one that lit up, earrings, cardboard houses with hand-sewn curtains and cute clay creations. \r\n\r\nWe are slowly rolling out maker space activities as an activity option during library time. Many students are choosing to create and it is awesome. I've seen some great cards, magnets, and bracelets leave the library. I've heard some cheers when I announced the projects and several students go straight to the maker space activities when asked to choose their activities. \r\n\r\nBy popular demand there will be at least one more maker space after school club in the spring.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for donating materials to flex their creativity and problem solving skills.","fullyFundedDate":1731561165725,"projectUrl":"project/makers-need-a-well-stocked-steam-maker-s/8928913/","projectTitle":"Makers Need a Well Stocked STEAM Maker-Space","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Miller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9789867_orig.jpg?crop=489,489,x8,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1731212486151","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9789867"},{"teacherId":9789867,"projectId":8928823,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation of STEM stations for the library. You donated some amazing science kits for our library along with some great books. I've planned to read the new books about earthquakes, magnets, and senses and then students will get to explore the different kits after listening to the books. Our library already has lots of amazing animal books. We will read some of those and then they will get to explore the different view finder slides and the hands-on specimen kits.\r\n\r\nMy students are very excited about getting to learn more about science during their library time. Beginning in January, students will get to hear a book about a different science topic and explore different stations about that topic.\r\n\r\nStudents have been very engaged and have come up with amazing observations and questions. By having STEM in the library we are going to try to earn a STEM badge for STEM in Specials from the Portland Metro STEM partnership. With the new cushions, I have seen more students reading books during their library time, even on days where they have earned an activity.
