Imagine typical elementary classroom fluorescent lights. Now add soft blue fabric panels over each bank of lights and breathe a sigh of relief. Educational Insights Fluorescent Light Filters will diffuse the harsh glare of our current classroom lighting, creating a calm and peaceful learning environment. Different seating choices like wobble cushions, floor seats, plastic rockers, Can-do therapy balls and furniture risers give students a choice of where to sit and at which height they do their best work. In a recent classroom survey of where they like to read, students shared they preferred soft lighting and comfortable seating. Some students like to sit or lie down and others prefer to stand. Some students like to read in corners with a mound of pillows by themselves while others want to sit near friends and move a little. This project seeks to make our classroom a little more like home by adding varied work spaces to help students build their learning stamina. When students are comfortable, they are more motivated and able to work for longer periods of time.
