Art materials such as permanent markers, heavy paper, and pastels are only a few of the things my students need to complete the many art project ideas for them next year. I would like to teach my students about the Mexican art forms of Bark Art - painting on heavy brown paper to simulate the old indigenous tradition of native people painting nature and people with bright lively colors and details. I am teaching in a dual immersion classroom, therefore art is an easy, fun, and integral way to teach Latino culture since it is rich in its variety of art forms. Having these materials will aid me and my students because I will be able to explore Art as well as Social Studies with an emphasis on language development, art, and cultural appreciation.
