My students have a variety of disabilities including autism and intellectual disabilities. They attend a public high school of roughly 1200 students. My students are much like any other young adult who is excited to get a job, socialize with their friends and family, and be independent . It is my job to help these students become prepared to support and take care of themselves the best they can once they are on their own or living in more independent situations. They have a curiosity about what they need to know to live independently. My students want to learn how to cook for themselves and their friends as well as maintain neat living arrangements. Many of my students are also interested in finding employment in the food service and janitorial fields once they graduate.
