Music is important to the overall academic achievement in today's youth. In a focus (Title I) school where students are daily battling with obstacles that hinder their academic progress to become productive in today's society. Students find the arts, visual and music as a means for escape and exploration of their hidden talent. Studies has shown an increase in academic achievement when students participate in the arts in school. For example, in a elementary school in San Francisco, California created a Classroom Connection Festival where students performed dances, created music, and artwork that aligned with their grade level curriculum (Edutopia, 2013).
