The motivational quotes, pictures, and college pennants will provide students with reminders throughout their day that we care for them, we are here for them, and an education will help them be successful. These materials will not directly teach my students new skills, but they will help prime my students for learning in all content areas and with many daily living skills. For example, while a student is entering our hallways from a long weekend at home, where most out our students experience trauma, they will return to images of them and their friends, quotes that uplift and inspire them, and information on colleges that they may want to attend. Finally, the student will see celebrations of their success by seeing students of the week, most improved student, and students that are trending upward. The donations for this project will improve my classroom by reducing the amount of behavioral issues, because I will be able to provide them with a sense of safety and visual reminders that they are welcome, appreciated, and cared for. With less behavioral issues, we can increase our learning and time on task. I'm looking forward to seeing my students happier and ready to learn. We will add motivational quotes, pictures of students, class celebrations, and college spotlights to our hallway. With these materials we are hoping to inspire students to persevere through adversity, set a purpose for going to school, and help motivate them to strive for greatness.
