As a middle school teacher, when we tell others what we do, we often get a sympathetic smile and a pat on the arm...or maybe a simple, "Why?!" But I always describe my students and then they understand. My students are resilient, always under constant peer and social pressure but willing to do whatever is needed. My students are kind, willing to step in for those who need it. My students are hard-working, always ready for the next challenge. And my students are brave, willing to stand up for the people and ideas they believe in. My students will be the future leaders of this world, I have no doubt. With their diverse backgrounds and life stories, combined with their undeniable spirits, I can't wait to see what they do.
