Just like art comes in a range of mediums, my students come from a range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. A large portion of our population consists of students who qualify for Title 1 services. Many of our students have not been exposed to the arts and have difficulty making meaningful connections when we learn about the United States Government. Each one of my students has a different home life and story to tell, and I firmly believe that art can promote self-expression, allowing students to make deeper, meaningful connections with American History.
