My students in my first grade classroom will benefit from the tablets to enhance their speaking, listening, reading, and technology skills in our classroom. My students will have access to read more books independently at their own level using digital resources such as epic!. They will be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. They will be able to use school implemented programs that will help them work towards their classroom and school wide reading goals. With these 6 tablets, my first graders will be able to practice their speaking, listening, and technology skills by creating digital products (e.g. book report videos and book review videos), collaborate, or hold discussions about relevant topics over a digital platform. My students will also be able to benefit from flexible seating with these tablets. Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. They will be able to choose a location in the classroom that works for them while they are using the tablets.
