The War of the Worlds text in the books will be taught like a college seminar. Students in my classes read the texts independently and write reflections. They make predictions and discuss how these texts have influenced modern science fiction. Seniors find comfort in knowing any fears or worries they feel about their future are a tiny concern in the span of time and space. We talk about their individual beliefs concerning space exploration and alien life. We also discuss the influence of the text on modern texts and film. They finish with an analytical essay topic of their choice.
