I serve 1st and 2nd grade English Learners in Berkeley County School District in South Carolina. My students work hard to gain proficiency in English while also mastering grade-level standards in their non-native language. My students are creative, imaginative and fun-loving. Their inquisitive minds guide our units of study, and their endless questions lead us to new, language-rich discoveries that introduce them to new vocabulary and language structures in meaningful ways. Keeping up with these eager minds requires a lot of energy, planning, and resources, but there is nothing more rewarding than seeing them master new skills and solve real-world problems. Our classroom is a dynamic learning environment, and I work hard to make sure students have the texts, resources, and materials they need to support their explorations and reach their goals.
