It's often 80 degrees in our classroom. In fact, it was 77 degrees by 9:00am one day this week. We're in the middle of an old building, and even though our vents are closed off, the ambient heat still warms our classroom to a nearly unbearable level. I have box fans running, but the white noise added to the heat makes it the perfect environment for napping -- good for kindergartners, bad for high schoolers! We move around a lot in class, and that works against us in the hot room. My students work so hard to stay focused and alert in our blistering classroom, and I need to give them some relief! The Rowenta fans I've requested are quiet and effective. They'll help banish the heat, and the quiet motors won't encourage my students' eyes to droop. My kids clamor to turn on the box fans I have every morning. I can't wait to see their faces when they come in and realize we have new fans that actually work and are quiet.
