The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students will help transform our middle school library into a more cozy and comfy place for our students to enjoy. We currently have older wooden chairs and tables that some of which are coming apart and have been glued multiple times and carpet that is worn and ripped. Our goal is to create a more modern space for them to yearn to visit. A place for reading, studying, creating, learning, and escape through their own imagination and creativity.
We want to transform our current library that has ripped and torn carpet and broken seating into something that is updated and more enjoyable for our pre-teen/teen learners.
The rugs will help aesthetically as well as remove the trip hazard our old carpet presents. This space will create a 'center' for reading or for using Chromebooks to collaborate on projects for my class as well as others in the school. The different seating types this project will provide will give my students a sense of escape from their normal classroom environment and a cool place to learn. Part of my lessons includes Makerspaces which gives my students a chance to think outside the box and being in our updated space will be an extension of that.
