I am a first year teacher. I am teaching a 12:1:1 Kindergarten Special Education Bilingual classroom. My students are all diagnosed with autism and other disabilities. They each face challenges brought on by their diagnosis every day and struggle to communicate. All of my students come from low-income areas, get free lunch, and some even use devices to communicate. This project will help my students transition to a school environment after being home because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Most will struggle to stay in their seat and providing the flexible seating options will ease the transition back into the classroom. Additionally, the stability balls allows students movement while increasing their balance and strengthens their core.
