Funding in the city of Chicago is not equitable. Not even a little bit. Students on the south side hear stories about other schools having Ipads for every student in their 1,000 plus population and are left wondering, why they have to share one pad per every 30 students? The future of education has arrived and yet we are not equipped to sufficiently expose students to what they will utilize in higher learning institutions, aka four year universities. My kids deserve one to one technology in their classroom. I want my students to have daily, easy access to useful apps that will enhance their learning experience. We will be able to engage in web quests that will provide real life connections to mathematics. Follow lessons on Nearpod that will allow immediate student and teacher feedback via formative assessments embedded in instructional content. Students can also access and complete their assignments via the new Classroom app that not only improves organizational skills but allows teachers to keep students on task. Most importantly, students will be able to self reflect on their learning journey with electronic student portfolios. These are just a few of many untapped opportunities my students will gain with this project. Help me prepare the next generation of leaders to impact your world!
