I am teaching seventh grade math, seventh advanced math, and algebra students this school year. All students crave engaging lessons. My goal is to teach to different learning styles and provide differentiation instructional support to my students. Manipulatives should be included into student learning because the more concrete mathematics is for the student, the better the comprehension. The manipulatives allow the students to understand the reasoning behind the mathematics and allows students to formulate their own understanding. When movement is incorporated into student learning, students learn more by staying engaged. Stations are regularly incorporated into lesson plans when possible to continue teaching with differentiation. Middle school students also love when they are able to work with the teacher in small group rotations. Adjusting the teacher to student ratio is vital in teaching in today's classroom!
