Snacks To Keep Us Healthy NOT Hangry!
Funded Sep 4, 2019My students are FIRED UP to learn now that you have provided them with the fuel to keep them going! At 10 am every day, after non stop working for 2 hours, we take a snack and brain break. Previous to receiving these snack items my students were responsible for remembering to bring a snack from home. My vision for this project was to support my students and take away the stress that not having the resources or simply forgetting would bring. I wanted to provide for them - you allowed me to do just that. Their reaction to receiving all of these snacks was PRICELESS! Their eyes lit up and the smiles filled the classroom. You could see the stress drift away. While some students do continue to being a snack from home there is still relief knowing that they don't have to worry about being hungry. Thank you will never be enough. You are an angel.”

Funded Feb 28, 2019We love our new carpet!!! My students are able to all fit on the carpet at the same time with extra room for movement in case they get wiggly. During our morning meetings we can focus more on getting to know each other and less on protecting personal space! Additionally, we are able to sit around the perimeter of the carpet to play fun games that help us to learn content. I knew that this would have a great impact, but it has far exceeded my expectations. We are making great memories together every day. Greenbrier PTA and Donors Choose are amazing!”

Funded Jan 14, 2019Today I saw my students smile HUGE smiles because they aren't worried about whether we will have snack anymore! They know that we will have the resources to have snack for a long time to come because of your generosity. The snacks that you purchased are given to my students after a long day of learning as they prepare to leave for the day. It gives comfort to me, and to my students, that they have food in their bellies that will last them until their next meal.
These snacks will also serve as a resource for students who come in late and may have missed breakfast. Being hungry should never be an educational barrier and because of you it won't be.
The best part of all of this is when I told them that we received these resources because someone else recognized how amazing and special they are and just wanted them to be happy....trust me....they are! Thank you for blessing my classroom.”

Basic Supplies to Make Learning Come Alive
Funded Sep 5, 2018My students have found their voices and they are not afraid to use them! Making books, cards, and posters while using the skills they have learned in reading and writing has become their favorite. Without the supplies that were supported through this project my students may not have realized or would not have been given the opportunity to express themselves in this powerful way. I am so happy to see that they are able to express themselves while using the knowledge that they have gained in class. More than that it has helped tremendously in building the community in my classroom. Thank you so much for your kindness, generosity, but most of all for believing in my vision.”

Funded May 4, 2017Thank you so much for the "Brown Boy" books and the teacher books regarding culturally responsive teaching techniques. I spent the summer reading these texts and am growing in my craft every day because of them. Better than this, my students feel comfortable being who they are in their own skin.
During parent teacher conferences I plan to offer the "Brown Boy" book to parents so that we can have a conversation about how they can use it at home with their child. With the recent racial tensions around the country this conversation is more important than ever!

Listen Up! My First Graders Need Headphones!
Funded Dec 6, 2016After receiving our headphones we got straight to work on improving reading and math fluency. My students have already gained 10 minutes (20 minutes total) in reading fluency time and 5,000 addition and subtraction facts (class wide)! My students' frustration level has also significantly decreased during iPad work time. Simply knowing that they can concentrate on their work because their headphones are sturdy and reliable has helped so much! Thank you again for your kindness and generosity. You have made a difference!”

Funded Jul 19, 2016Wow!! Your generous donation has made a HUGE impact in our classroom! With our new Wobble Chairs my students are so excited to come to reading groups and let their learning soar!
Currently my students are seen once a day for 10- 15 minutes for reading groups but they are always begging for more time. I really believe the freedom to move their bodies while still focused and on task is what makes them so eager! I have already seen tremendous growth and can not wait to continue on this successful path.

The easel has arrived, been set up by the awesome custodial staff (so thankful for them as well!), and we are off and running! It has already become an incredible resource while being used for science, writing, reading, and phonics instruction! Phew!
