Time for Kids will help fill a need for quality grade level based informational text to promote learning through investigation of the text. Students will become familiar with the structure of non-fiction reading material and will understand the variety of text features relevant to non-fiction text. Our class will use the materials in whole group, small group and independently. During independent and group work students can utilize the Surf Portable Lap desks to help them complete their work. They will question, wonder, make connections and make inferences about their reading; skills that will help deepen their knowledge of the topic. Their learning will be shared through classroom discussions with each other and presentations to the whole class. These discussions will support and foster student state standards for speaking and listening.
