When students can see themselves reflected in the books that they read, it engages them in such a way that they want to read and understand the text so much better than if they think the text is completely irrelevant to their lives. These books will help enrich my students' reading experience and teach them important social skills such as tolerance, kindness, and how to be a good friend. I will use these books by reading them aloud to students and really digging dip into the theme or message of the story. We will use these books in our vocabulary lessons as well as our writing. Students will also have the opportunity to view/read these books on their own during independent reading time.
